The youngest children in the nursery are cared for in our Kindergarten Unit which is divided into various ages and stages of development.
The baby room provides a calm, nurturing space for our youngest children as they settle into nursery life. Children of this age need familiar faces, carers who know them well as individuals. Consistency of care for all children in the nursery is very important, but it is absolutely essential with our youngest children.
At around 12 months old children will move through to the Younger Kindergarten Room where the children are free to explore and learn in a safe and stimulating indoor environment. The room leads straight out to the Kindergarten outdoor area.
When the children are about 18 months old they will be based in our Older Kindergarten Room where they can enjoy fun and stimulating activities with direct access to our safe but exciting outdoor play area.
We have two Toddler Units which challenge children in an environment specific to their age and stage of development. Both are based in open plan rooms with various areas set up to provide new experiences and to keep the children stimulated and engaged. Each toddler room has its own outdoor play space which is used every day.
This is the time when most children go through the toilet training process and our toddler team are able to work with parents in order to make this transition as smooth as possible and each room has its own toileting facilities.
The Pre-school Unit is split between 2 large, open plan rooms with opportunities for children to share and form relationships, make choices, to discuss and experiment, to ask questions, to develop essential physical and manipulative skills, to learn through play and planned activities, to communicate and to concentrate and persevere. The children have an amazing outdoor space with a castle, tunnel slide and vegetable patch.
